Neonatal Resuscitation Program

Welcome to the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)  – your best source for NRP in Canada.

NRP is an educational program that introduces the concepts and skills of neonatal resuscitation. In Canada, NRP is administered by the Canadian Paediatric Society and is designed to teach individuals and teams who may be required to resuscitate newborn babies. NRP course content is evidence-based and delivered across Canada in both English and French to over 51,000 health care professionals.

WHAT’S NEW 

Canadian NRP 9th edition launches on June 1, 2026. 

Implementation timeline

Automatic RQI Update | June 1, 2026

  • Any not-started 8th Edition NRP activities will be automatically updated to the 9th Edition.

  • Learners have 60 days to complete any 8th Edition NRP exams already in progress.

Teaching Start Date | August 1, 2026

  • All instructors must transition to teaching the 9th Edition by this date.

Provider Update Period | January 2027

  • All Providers are expected to be updated with the 9th Edition materials by this time.

National Practice Requirements | January 2027

  • All NRP professionals and organizations should be fully transitioned to the NRP 9th Edition.
