Community Paediatrics

Formed in 1997, the Community Paediatrics Section is a network of community paediatricians and residents whose primary goal is to foster the gold standards of practice with respect to community paediatrics by encouraging optimum care for children and youth. In addition to providing a forum for discussion on issues related to community paediatric health care, the section encourages the exchange of research ideas, fosters collaborative research, and promotes the training of community paediatricians.

The section promotes evidence-based anticipatory guidance in all aspects of community paediatrics. Through the CPS, the section also disseminates knowledge about community paediatrics to other health care professionals with the goal of improving multi-disciplinary management and prevention of clinical problems encountered in community paediatrics. The section advocates, at all levels of government, for health care policies that would help prevent the acute and long-term disabilities that are seen by community paediatricians.
