Hospital Paediatrics Resident Grant

The Hospital Paediatrics Section promotes interest in and the advancement of hospital paediatrics. To support these goals, this $2,000 grant is presented to a qualified pediatric resident to offset the cost of engaging in scholarly activity related to hospital pediatrics (i.e. quality improvement, education, advocacy, research) by providing start-up funding for resident-led projects in hospital pediatrics.

Submission deadline: October 31

Nominations

All projects must be consistent with the vision of enhancing general paediatric inpatient care in Canada. The project must support local pilot initiatives which may then allow the investigator to develop the basis for an application for further support through conventional granting mechanisms. Additionally:

ALL Applicants must:

  • Be actively enrolled in an accredited paediatric residency program in Canada.
    • Please note that pediatric fellows are ineligible for this grant and should apply to the CPS Hospital Pediatrics Project Grant

  • A detailed budget (maximum 1 page). Requests can include costs for supplies, minor equipment, and salaries for support personnel. Funds are not to be used for faculty salaries or indirect costs. Research assistant time and technical support can be included in the budget; however, the requested expense for their time must be clearly justified. Travel reimbursement is limited to local travel for research purposes and travel to locations with pertinent resources for the proposed study. Funding is for one year; however, a non-funded extension up to one year may be requested.
  • A letter of support from the department chair or supervisor assuring approval of the planned study (maximum 1 page).
