Module 4 – Children and Youth New to Canada

What’s in this module?

This module serves to introduce residents to the issues surrounding Immigrant and Refugee Health. The first part of the session focuses on the changing demographics of immigration, an explanation of the refugee process in the Canadian context, and potential barriers to accessing health care in these groups. The second section reviews the fundamental aspects of child refugee health screening. In between the two parts, a brief video showing some of the challenges faced by a recently arrived refugee family from South-East Asia is shown (or alternatively a recent media clip of your choosing).
