Lifelong Learning in Paediatrics

Join the Canadian Paediatric Society in Old Montreal, Quebec, October 22-24 for the Fall 2010 Lifelong Learning in Paediatrics course.
Earn up to 13,0 MOC, Mainpro-M1 and AMA credits!
Designed for paediatricians, family physicians, residents and allied health professionals, this CME course will explore the following topics: acute care, emergency medicine, infectious disease, mental health and neurology.
This Lifelong Learning in Paediatrics course is supported through unrestricted educational grants from AstraZeneca, Mead Johnson Nutrition (Canada) Co., Pediapharm Inc., Purdue Pharma, Shire Canada Inc. and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.
Course Objectives
At the end of the course, participants should be able to:
- Provide updates on new developments in the diagnosis and management of common paediatric disorders.
- Summarize how new developments could appropriately be integrated into a participant's practice setting.
- Provide updates on practice issues relevant to paediatricians.
- Foster a culture of inter-professional education.

Attention residents: The CPS provides a $500 bursary to each paediatric program to help send CPS resident members to our Lifelong Learning in Paediatrics courses. Contact your program director for details.
Course Credits
The Canadian Paediatric Society is an accredited provider of Maintenance of Certification. This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Participants may claim up to 13.0 MOC Section 1 credit hours.
This program meets the accreditation criteria of The College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been accredited by the Quebec Chapter for up to 13.0 Mainpro-M1 credits.
The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education of the United States (ACCME) maintains a reciprocity relationship with the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS) which the American Medical Association (AMA) recognizes for the purpose of allowing Canadian medical schools the ability to certify activities for AMA PRA category 1 credit and to award such credit to eligible physicians.
New benefit for CPS members
Starting this year, you can transfer earned CME credits to the “Mainport” site at Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. All you need to do is provide your RCPSC ID number and your CPS membership number when you.
CanMEDS Roles*
CanMEDS is an initiative to improve patient care and focuses on articulating a comprehensive definition of the competencies needed for medical education and practice. CanMEDS refers to the seven roles – Medical Expert (central role), Communicator, Collaborator, Manager, Health Advocate, Scholar and Professional.
