Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Section

The Section will be hosting a two-day program at the CPS Annual Conference in Ottawa in June. Here is the program outline:
- Monday evening, June 22. A “Meet the Professor” session will be held to provide trainees and new faculty an opportunity to meet and discuss interesting cases with our invited guests.
- Tuesday morning, June 23. The day will lead off with a continental breakfast and poster symposium on the determinants of preterm birth and low birth weight. This will be followed by six selected original science platform presentations. The morning will conclude with a series of lectures by Dr. K. S. Joseph, Dr. Isaac Blickstein from Israel and Dr. Annie Janvier on the epidemiology and impact of multiple birth and assisted reproduction.
- Tuesday afternoon. A special concurrent seminar highlighting the epidemiology and impact of late preterm birth will be delivered by Dr. K. S. Joseph and Dr. Lucky Jain.
- Tuesday evening. Join us at this year's awards dinner to help honour the recipient of the Distinguished Neonatologist Award, Dr. Molly Seshia (tickets must be purchased).
- Wednesday morning, June 24. The Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Section Business Meeting will be followed by Poster Session 1 in which many neonatal posters will be displayed and attended by their authors.
- Wednesday afternoon. A joint session with the Developmental Paediatrics Section will feature Drs. Catherine Limperopoulos and Lonnie Zwaigenbaum discussing neurodevelopmental sequelae of preterm birth with a focus on autism spectrum disorders and the impact of cerebellar injury. This will be followed by reports from the Fetus and Newborn Committee and Canadian Neonatal Network.
