Injury Prevention
Injuries are the leading cause of death among children, youth and young adults, and are a major cause of morbidity and disability. The Canadian Paediatric Society works to ensure that health professionals, parents and others who care for children have access to timely and credible resources on injury prevention.

Patient education: Resources for parents and caregivers
- Keeping Your Baby Safe: A bilingual brochure on protecting babies and young children at home and in the car.
- Brochures are also available on playground safety, winter safety, and Halloween safety.
- Well Beings: A Guide to Health in Child Care, 3rd edition (2008), provides information and best practices for child care centres, including checklists, tools and resources related to safety and injury prevention.
- The Canadian Paediatric Society Guide to Caring for your Child from Birth to Age Five (2009), is a comprehensive book for parents and caregivers of young children. It offers important advice to prevent injuries in the early years, with child proofing tips and information on common injuries and first-aid.

Advocacy
- Are We Doing Enough?: The CPS status report on public policy and child and youth health assesses the strength of government legislation on bicycle helmets, all-terrain vehicles, booster seats and snowmobile safety.
