For Reviewers
Our volunteer peer reviewers are essential to the journal. Their contribution assists us in nurturing new authors and ensures that the highest quality information reaches our readers.
In recognition of Paediatrics & Child Health's peer reviewers
New to reviewing? Here’s a primer on reviewing scientific articles.
PEER REVIEW PROCESS
Peer review is undertaken on all manuscripts submitted to Paediatrics & Child Health. If the manuscript is deemed suitable and meets the criteria of the journal, it is forwarded to a minimum of two external reviewers who are not associated with the author. Guidelines for reviewers ask for a general appraisal of the paper, and specific comments that may be helpful to the author. The reviewer is also asked to rank the importance of the topic and paper for publication in the journal using a sliding scale and, finally, to recommend acceptance or rejection of the manuscript to the editors. The editors are ultimately responsible for making the final decision regarding publication or rejection of the manuscript. Peer review takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks.
