Committees
What do CPS committees do?
The Canadian Paediatric Society works through its many committees to advance child health issues in Canada. They are the backbone of the CPS and include:
- ACCT (Action Committee for Children and Teens)
- Acute Care
- Adolescent Health
- Annual Conference
- Awards
- Bioethics
- Community Paediatrics
- Continuing Professional Development
- Drug Therapy and Hazardous Substances
- Fetus and Newborn
- First Nations, Inuit and Métis Health
- Healthy Active Living and Sports Medicine
- Infectious Diseases and Immunization
- Injury Prevention
- Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities
- Nutrition and Gastroenterology
- Paediatric Human Resources Planning
Committee members volunteer their time to develop position papers, provide expert advice and make recommendations to the Board of Directors on issues related to their area of expertise, serve as advocates for child and youth health issues, get involved in CPS projects and continuing professional development, serve as media spokespeople, and much more.
Committee size is limited, and members serve a fixed term with opportunity for renewal. Applications are reviewed by the appropriate Committee Chair, and nominations are approved by the CPS Board of Directors.
