Paediatric Sports Medicine Grant Criteria Application Selection Process Highlight Reel Online application Past recipients The
Paediatric Sports and Exercise Medicine Section has
created the Paediatric Sports Medicine Grant to
promote opportunities for residents and fellows to pursue electives in
the area of paediatric sport medicine. The goals are to encourage
residents and fellows to improve their clinical skills in
musculoskeletal medicine and to broaden their experience with sport
medicine topics, particularly those unique to the paediatric age group.
To facilitate sport medicine
experiences within residency and fellowship training, the Paediatric
Sports and Exercise Medicine Section has established an annual $1,000
Paediatric Sports Medicine Grant to help offset expenses associated
with a paediatric elective in this field. Criteria To
be eligible to receive the grant, residents/fellows must be CPS
members. The applicant must arrange an elective in sport medicine of at
least four (4) weeks in duration and the elective must be with a
preceptor who is willing to formally evaluate the resident during the
elective. Application
Candidates can apply online or complete and return the grant application form.
The application must be submitted a minimum of six (6) months prior to
the start of the elective, accompanied by: - A

what you hope to gain from the experience; and
- A letter from the preceptor of the elective must
accompany the application.

Paediatric Sports and Exercise Medicine Section executive and a member
of the CPS Education Department. The successful candidate will be
notified by May 15 of each year. Announcement of the successful
candidate will be made at the annual conference during the Paediatric
Sports and Exercise Medicine Section business meeting and highlighted
in the CPS News and on the CPS website. Highlight Reel Upon
completion of the elective, grant recipients must submit a report to
their program director and to the Paediatric Sports and Exercise
Medicine Section. The report (maximum 500 words) should outline details
of the elective, goals/objectives of the elective, and how the elective
has changed/affected your training and career. These reports will
be shared with other grant applicants on the “Highlight Reel” of the
Paediatric Sports and Exercise Medicine Section webpage and may help
facilitate the arrangement of electives in sport medicine for other
residents. Reports may also be included in a future CPS publication.
